German households alone wash around 20 million tons of laundry per year. The importance of environmentally friendly, effective low-temperature detergents is correspondingly great. Manufacturers of detergents, soap and cleaning products are promoting sustainability by, among other things, replacing harmful ingredients with more environmentally friendly, biodegradable substances.

If the temperature of dishwashers and washing machines can be reduced by just a few degrees, the gain in efficiency is enormous. Material-saving packaging, refill packs and refill stations reduce waste. Other approaches offer cleaning products in concentrated tabs, drastically reducing both resources and emissions for manufacturing, transport and packaging.

The pioneers among manufacturers are increasingly relying on renewable energies and resource-saving technologies in production, reducing waste to a minimum and closing material cycles. Their products do not contain microplastics or petrochemicals. In this way, they promote more sustainable consumption habits and protect biodiversity and ecosystems through careful selection of raw materials.

The industry includes, for example, the production of soaps, detergents, cleaning and polishing products. The manufacturers of chemical precursors are assigned to the “chemical industry” sector.
